These pastfew years, social media has changed the way people find and spread informationas well as news, making it a lot easier for news industries to targetparticular populations. Websites such as Buzz feed are getting more and morefamous as their aim is not only to write news stories, but also to create new entertainment, with the use for example of cat videos and cute puppies. However, Buzz feedraises an issue which is whether it is a reliable source or not. According toan article published by Megan Poczos in the University of Wisconsin’s theRacquet, she stated that “A lot of articles posted on buzz feed are opinionbased articles”(Poczos, 2015).With that statement, she makes it clearthat most of the website’s content is unreliable because opinion pieces are notobjective. Therefore, the reader gets a point of view on a story rather thanthe actual retelling of it.
An example of this is that someone could write whothey think will win the presidential election, and who they like better insteadof finding the facts and evidence to actually prove their point.
