There are plenty of reasons why a student must finish his/her studies for thereare so many places to go, food to eat and people to help. However, everybodyhas different perspectives on what a person could be in the future someday.Choosing the legitimate career is one of the decisive things that a studentmust decide and serve as his path in taking his step towards his career. Thiscould be equipped to determine the success of his life in the next stages.Through choosing a career anybody his desired job and portray his excellence inhis skills that suits his capability. On the other hand, Philippines involve inmiscellaneous crisis and one forth social issue is poverty and its people areconfronted and aware of it thus it needs passionate and determined workers inaffecting an industry.
In January 2013, the Philippines has 7.1% deflationrate, the highest in the countries from the Southeast Asian nations and fromwhich are college graduates. (Pascual, 2014) Majority of the institutions ofhigher education wasn’t being liable to produce progress that is needed toanticipate in the demand of the present economy. Since the graduates don’tpossess the essence prescribed by the industry due to the lack of a properguidance that must be attained to choose the appropriate courses in college tosuites the person who actively learning’s ability. A misfit graduate is oneconcerning the reasons why our country has a tremendous unemployment rate. Moreover, it indicates that one ofthe objectives of the Department of Education to promote the people whoactively learning in educational success as a consequence qualify the adequacycompetence that needed to the workforce of companies and institutions.This research aims to determine the aspects thataffect the career preferences regarding the select students in ValenciaNational High School. Statement of theproblemThis study is to identify the factors in affecting SeniorHigh School Student’s in choosing the right courses for their preparation incollege, these certain general questions need to be addressed:1.What factors influenced the students when they made the decision to pursue aparticular career goal?2.Is the K-12 curriculum would help the students to make a decision for preparingcollege course? Theoretical Framework2.1G-12 Decision makings Thereare a lot of courses that we may choose in choosing our career.
For the Grade12 students, there are some instances that they pick not for their own likesbut they choose it for being sociable and they would not let their friends getmad, factors influence decision making. Some of these factors, including yourpast experience (Juliusson, Karlsson, &G?rling, 2005) belief in yourpersonal relevance (Acevedo, & Krueger, 2004), and a rapid increase ofcommitment, influence what are the choices of people make. Understanding thefactors that influence the making of decisions process is very important for usto understand what decisions are made. That is, following factors thatinfluence the process of making decisions may impact the outcomes.2.2Career choice factorsThere are a lot of affecting factors in choosingpreferred careers. The Government used to find ways to lessen problems in oursociety; to implement a K-12 program of the educational system, specifically inthe Department of Education. This need to gain the accretion of graduates beforethey reach the college level, Senior High School is two years of specializedupper secondary education (Official Gaze, 2012).
Luck plays a major part:unpredictable social factors, chance events, and environmental factors areimportant influences on graduate’s lives. Conceptual FrameworkThere are some different factors that are either itcould be directly or indirectly affects the career preferences of Senior HighSchool students. The focus of this study was taken by the following conceptualframeworks which have this three-part process: the Inputs, Process, andOutputs.Input– This includes the socio-demographic profiles of the select students, theirwanted field of study to specialized, and their career preference and factorsthat affect their career preferences.Process– This includes in determining their career preferences and the leading factorsthat affect their career preferences. We may conduct a survey of the select Grade12 students.Output– This study would identify the career preference of the select Grade 12 SeniorHigh School (SHS) students of Valencia National High School (VNHS) for certaininstitutions or universities that would like to design and implement SeniorHigh school program.
Scope and DelimitationsThis study aims to identify the aspects of choosing careerin SHS students of Valencia National High School will be covered as part of ourrespondents. The researchers give some frequent questions that need to be determined.In other words, it focuses the data for preferred choice of students.
Limitationsof the StudyEven though the study conducted has shown itspurpose, it shows few unavoidable limitations encountered. First, the limitedtime, the study was conducted during class hours and the given respondentsclasses are still on going. Second, this research was conducted in ValenciaNational High School only on G-12 senior high school students.
Third,respondents might be stacked with task and requirement so the study might getdelayed or even fail. In general, this study will only involve the students whoare in G-12 that will finish this year.Significance of thestudyThis prompted the research to determine the factorsthat affect the choice of career of Senior High School in the Valencia NationalHigh School. Proper guidance should be considered to help ensure in able to getinto the right career.
This may also help the students identify the reasons whythe government implemented the K-12 program in the educational system. Theresults of the study served as the basis for the construction of a careerprogram for Senior High School students.
