Coming from a family of educators, the choice on what to major in and what to eventually choose as my career was easy. The chance to change the lives of children and mold the future of our community is one of the greatest things about being a teacher. Working with creative, imaginative children on a daily basis is another reason being a teacher is appealing to me. Aside from this, being a teacher means I get to not only see but be a part of a child learning something new or seeing their faces brighten up at the realization that they have figured something out. Who other than a teacher gets to say they get the daily opportunity to teach a young person a valuable lesson that they will look back on for their entire lives? As a teacher you know that you are getting an opportunity to mold and shape your student’s lives in some way, be it big or small. Helping to broaden the minds of your community’s youth so that they think in new ways is a consistent perk of being an educator.
Helping young students is just one reason why being a teacher is something I would like to devote my life to. Getting to work with children may just prove to be one of the best parts of my day at work. Children tend to have no filter and say whatever is on their mind. The way their perspectives differ from that of an adult and their wild imaginations might just be something that gets me through long days at work. Although children may have tempers or act up sometimes, I know that I am guaranteed new experiences every day of the week . Having children with so many different personalities in a room for several hours a day and watching them experience different types of lessons will always give me something to look forward to.
Not everyone can be a teacher. It takes a special kind of person to dedicate their time and energy to spending their entire day focusing on bettering another person’s child/children. I truly feel that being a teacher is just as, if not more, rewarding as it is difficult and challenging and because of this I would like to dedicate my life to teaching others.
