Kidzone will offer superior care for children ranging between three months and three years of age. Our team will ensure that all parents, seeking an educational setting, have their mind at rest knowing that their child is receiving the best possible service at our centre. We are set on making a difference in the European Union Community, therefore contributing to an improved Maltese community. This is why we have decided to make ‘physical activity’ a main focus within this childcare centre. Taking into account the high percentage of death per year due to causes associated with overweight and obesity, Kidzone will focus on providing the children with appropriate physical activity equipment.
This area within the childcare centre will be specifically designed to promote a healthy and physical active lifestyle, thus reducing the risk of overweight and obesity in adulthood as well as contributing to healthy growth and development.Unfortunately, low-socio-economic status greatly affects the high percentage of overweight and obese individuals in Malta. Kidzone will help keep this percentage to a minimum as it will make physical activity equipment available to all children, and will also offer physical exercise classes for the children, the staff and also the parents on a daily basis. This will increase awareness and create a more informed community, therefore achieving sustainable and efficient healthy systems and ensuring a healthy work force in the future.
We will also be offering cooking sessions on a weekly basis with the children. Healthy fruit and vegetables will be promoted and encouraged frequently, and sufficient time for foods to be consumed will be given. This is to introduce children to the taste and feel of healthier food.
This is a need in Malta as the intake of fruit and vegetables is well below the recommended daily intake. Together with this we will introduce and implement gardening as part of our curriculum at Kidzone. We will use this opportunity to grow our very own organic fruit and vegetables, thus educating the children from a very young age.
This will also make eating healthily more accessible to consumers, including those with limited socio-economic means.Furthermore, at Kidzone we will offer both staff and parents the opportunity to attend seminars/worskhops, delivered by health professionals and physical educators in order for all to be aware of what can be done, the risk factors, early detectors and ways to motivate in relation to child obesity. This will ensure that the children are being guided in the proper way by trained individuals, and therefore are given the chance to receive the best support during their early years.
