The two mainwastes that are described in this case study which need to be reduced orpossibly eliminate are Material flow and the waiting time between the twoprocesses.  The materialflow line has to be reduced to the proposed extent so that the flow of the productmoves faster than actual and the waiting time of the products between differentprocesses can be reduced to some extent.

Similarly, In Beam Manufacturingthe task that adds more value to the product is the phytosanitary treatment andthe cut rail task.

 v  Actual VSM: From theactual VSM formula, {Efficiency Index = VAT/ Lead Time} if the index is equalto 1, the process is 100% efficient and the value is added to the product.  Further calculatingthe takt times of the pallets and beam manufacturing it is observed 54min and24min for each product and the remaining 94.8% and 88.8 % are actually wasteswhich don’t add any value.
