Trend, what is trend? Trend is apattern of gradual change in a condition or process, or an average or generaltendency of a series of data points to move in a certain direction over time. Thetrends may be social trends, political trends or technological trends. Thereare many kinds of trends no matter trends of the olden days or trends of themodern times, such as teaching method, fashion, music, technology, lifestyleand so on and so forth. In this essay, the trend that I will discuss is themodern and traditional teaching method as well as traditional and modern clothes.
Although the traditional teaching method are still being used by some of theteachers in some of the school, but I can conclude that the teachers who stilluse the traditional teaching method are almost all the 40 to 50 years oldteachers because now the modern trend of teaching method is by using thehigh-tech equipment or modern gadgets. Mostly all the old generation teachersdon’t know the way to use the complicated modern gadgets. I think that almostentirely of the teachers in the school are encouraged to start using thesehigh-tech equipment and modern gadget like use of computers or laptop in theclassrooms, use of Liquid-crystal display (LCD) projector, and use of specialwebsites or blogs for teaching in the classrooms, for example blackboard whichis used by INTI international university and college. Next, youngsters nowadayssaid that we must follow the latest trend and go with the flow which is wearthe modern fashion clothes. While a handful of people still said that we shouldwear the traditional clothes because they believe that the traditional clothessymbolize their culture and identity. The traditional teaching method might bedistinct from the modern teaching method and the old fashion clothes also mightbe not alike from the modern fashion clothes, but there are still similarities,as well as advantages and disadvantages between the traditional teaching methodand modern teaching method together with the old fashion clothes and modernfashion clothes. Firstand foremost, the similarities between traditional teaching method and modernteaching method are the content of the reading materials.
The content of readingmaterials whether in traditional teaching method or modern teaching method arealmost the same or maybe there are just slightly a bit difference because thesyllabus is still almost the same. All the students still need to study thenotes and do exercises to get good results in the examination. Next, no matterin the traditional teaching method or the modern teaching method, the teachersare still the main facilitator and motivator. All the teachers will tend toguide students to be more active in class and motivate the students so that tobuild their confidence. Furthermore, the teachers need to use the hardcopy toteach in the class in both teaching method. While the difference between thetraditional teaching method and modern teaching method are interaction andcommunication between the teachers and students.
In traditional teaching method, there is more interaction and communication between the teachers and studentscompare to the modern teaching method. In traditional teaching method, studentswill get to interact and communicate with the teachers in the classroom, while inmodern teaching method, student will have less interaction and communicationbecause all the notes and announcement are sent through some special websitesor blogs although there are a few face-to-face classes once a week. Besides that, the traditional teaching method is much cheaper than the modern teaching methodwhich make that the traditional teaching method is more suitable for theschools in the rural area and the modern teaching method is more suitable forthe schools in the city. Moreover, mostlyall the traditional teaching method still teach on a blackboard using chalk, usingtextbooks, hardcopy notes, and so on and so forth, whereas in the modernteaching method, almost all the students use electronic devices like laptops, computer, mobile phone, tablet and so on and so forth to read notes, do assignment and doquiz. Actually, both of the teaching methods have its’ ownadvantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages of traditional teaching methodare the students always rely and dependent on the teachers in every studyrelated matter which is like the spoon feeding, which like the parents take thespoon and feed their children with food. This peculiarity will restrain thecreativity side of their personality and they will never get to know their goodaspects. Next, in the traditional teaching method, the teachers often talk to thestudents instead of motivating them to interact and communicate, giving them thechances to ask questions or making them fully understand the lessons.
To everydisadvantage there is a corresponding advantage, so the advantages oftraditional teaching method are the students will take part in the school andclassroom activities actively. They can help each other whenever who faces theproblems. They will also have the chances to interact and communicate with theteachers hence can directly ask the questions from their teachers if they faceany problems in their studies. In addition, there are some subjects likemathematics, physics and chemistry are best taught on a blackboard becausemathematics and physics involve calculations which need to explain step by stepand chemistry which involve equations and calculations which also need toexplain step by step.
Modern teaching methods also have various of advantagesover the traditional teaching method, which is modern teaching method cancreate more attentiveness among the students with the help of interesting animations, pictures and videos.
